Mexico, July 13: Mexican federal agents have arrested two suspects after a series of bloody attacks that left five officers and two soldiers dead in the state of Michoacan.

Mexico’s federal Public Safety Department said in a statement on Sunday that the men were captured following a shootout with federal police.

One gunman was also killed in the incident, which took place in the Pacific port city of Lazaro Cardenas.

Three assault rifles, a pistol, bullets, a bulletproof vest, four radios and an SUV were also seized.

On Saturday, gunmen attacked federal forces after police in Morelia, the capital of Michoacan, arrested Arnoldo Rueda Medina, a reputed main operative of the notorious La Familia cartel.
