NEW DELHI: Another woman has come forward with her #MeToo of sexual harassment with junior external affairs minister MJ Akbar.
Tushita Patel, who worked with Akbar for the Deccan Chronicle narrates the three separate horrifying experience.
In an open letter published in news website Scroll, she writes, “You opened the door dressed only in your underwear. I stood at the door, stricken, scared and awkward. You stood there like the VIP man, amused by my fear.”
In 1993, when the minister was the editor-in-chief of the Deccan Chronicle in Hyderabad and she was a senior sub-editor, on the pretext of discussing pages, he grabbed and kissed her hard.
“Defeated, humiliated, blinded by hurt and tears, I stayed in that room till I stopped crying. I waited till you had left the building, went to the bathroom, washed my face and carried on to finish my page,” she wrote for Scroll.
In the end, she pleads Akbar to stop lying and concludes her article with ‘You know who we are. You’ll recognise us when you see us at the barricades.’
Akbar, who is engulfed in the #MeToo storm reacted to the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him as “malicious, false and fabricated.
