NEW DELHI: Another woman journalist, this time from the US, accused M.J. Akbar of sexual misconduct when he was Editor of The Asian Age newspaper.
On Friday, Majlie de Puy Kamp came out with her MeToo story against Akbar, who is now Minister of State for External Affairs.
Kamp, currently working with the CNN, told online news portal HuffPost India in an e-mail that Akbar harassed her when she was just 18.
The then 55-year old Akbar forcibly kissed her on the last day of her internship at The Asian Age office in 2007.

“What he did was disgusting, he violated my boundaries, betrayed my trust and that of my parents,” Kamp told.
“He got up and walked around his desk to where I was sitting, so I also got up and I extended my hand.” de Puy Kamp recalled in a conversation. “He grabbed me right under my shoulders, on my arms, and pulled me in and kissed me on my mouth and forced his tongue into my mouth, and I just stood there,” she told the publication.
Akbar has already been accused of sexual assault by other women journalists when he was editor in various publications. Kamp is the eighth woman journalist
The MeToo movement in India was ignited by Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta who levelled allegations against actor Nana Patekar, who had denied the charges. Since then, a string of women has come out with their ordeal both in Bollywood and against M.J. Akbar.
On Friday, the #MeToo campaign hit the corporate world with Tata Motors sending one of its senior executives on leave following allegations of inappropriate behaviour with employees.
