NEW DELHI: Union Minister MJ Akbar returns to India from a foreign tour amid accusations of sexual harassment against him.
According to EconomicTimes reports, he tendered his resignation on Sunday via email, to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). However, the government is however yet to confirm his resignation.

The junior Minister of State for External Affairs was in Nigeria when his name came up in a #MeToo thread on social media. He refrained from speaking on sexual misconduct allegations leveled against him at the Delhi airport.

On being asked about the allegations, he told reporters he would issue a statement later in the day, news agency ANI reported.

Several women in the last few days have come out with accounts of alleged sexual harassment by Akbar, a former journalist as part of the #MeToo movement.
