MUMBAI: A complaint of sexual assault has been filed against veteran Bollywood actor-Jeetendra by his cousin in a 1971 incident.
According to reports, an FIR that was lodged in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday said that the alleged incident occurred when the complainant was 18-years-old and Jeetendra was 28.
A report in India Today report, the victim, who wishes to remain anonymous said the global campaigns against sexual harrasment such as #MeToo encouraged her to speak against the sexual abuse.
She finally decided to file a formal police complaint after her parent’s demise as she did not want to hurt them when they know about the sexual abuse by their nephew, Jeetendra.
The victim and her family chose to not reveal their identity considering the fact that Jeetendra is rich, powerful and politically well-connected.
The actor-producer Ravi Kapoor, famously known as Jeetendra is also the chairman of the Balaji Telefilms, Balaji Motion Pictures and ALT Entertainment.
