Dubai, November 28: The Court of Appeal upheld the three-month jail term given by a lower court to a messenger for stealing from the donation box in a clinic. The court also upheld the deportation order of the defendant after serving his jail term.
The Court of First Instance sentenced on October 13 the 20-year-old Indian messenger to three-months in jail as he was found guilty of stealing from his work place.
He was also sentenced to be deported after completion of his jail term. He was caught by one of the clinic staff stealing Dh500 from a charity box. The staff had doubts when he saw him coming early to work in the clinic on August 24 in Rashidiya.
The defendant devised a smart way to steal the cash without having to carry the box. He used a long metal bar with a sticky material to take the money out of the box.
