When Meryl Streep mimics Donald Trump

Melbourne : After celebs like Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert, it was Meryl Streep’s turn to take a shot at the guise of Donald Trump and she nailed it.

The Oscar winning actress showed up at the the Public Theatre 2016 Gala in Central Park, New York on June 6 night donning an orange face, a fat suit and a face full of fake tan to play Trump, reports News.com.au.

In a perfect timing with Hillary Clinton’s primary win, the 66-year-old actress teamed up with Christine Baranski, dressed as Clinton, to perform ‘Brush Up Your Shakespeare’ from ‘Kiss Me, Kate.’

‘Brush up your Shakespeare,’ traditionally sung by male gangsters in the classic musical based on ‘The Taming of the Shrew,’ advises men on how to woo women by reciting lines from Shakespeare.

“You’ll let me know, why all the women say no,” Streep sang during the annual event paying tribute to playwright William Shakespeare.

Streep issued a statement to the New York Times through a Public Theater spokeswoman on June 7 afternoon, saying, “I appreciate the interest, but this was a one-off, a once in a (last in a) lifetime appearance of this character.”(ANI)
