Mere saath na insafi hui hai says Moulana Naseeruddin

Hyderabad, September 12: “Mere saath naa insafi hui hai” is what Moulana Naseeruddin, allegedly having links with some Pakistan-based terror groups and also an accused in the killing of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya, had to say soon after his arrival at the Shamshabad airport from Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad Friday.

The Moulana, president of the fundamentalist outfit Tehreek- Tehfooz-Sharia-e-Islam (TTSI) was released on bail by the Supreme Court recently. He was arrested by a Gujarat police team in October 2004 and since then he was languishing in Sabarmati jail in Ahmedabad.

The Hyderabad city police and the Intelligence sleuths kept a close watch ever since he arrived at the Shamshabad airport this evening till he reached his residence at Jeevan Yar Jung colony in the sensitive Saidabad area.

After landing at Shamshabad, he along with 30-odd supporters drove straight to Saidabad and offered prayers in a mosque. He later paid condolences to Mujahid Saleem, who was killed in police firing at DGP’s office, at his grave in Saidabad.

Speaking to reporters, the Moulana alleged that he was falsely implicated by the Gujarat police.

“The chargesheet against me states that my speeches have influenced the youngsters (in the killing). They would have booked cases against me under relevant Sections of law, but Pota was invoked on me,’’ he said.

Claiming that he was never been to Gujarat, Naseeruddin asked as to how he can conspire the murder by staying here in the city.

Naseeruddin said that the police could easily implicate him in the case as he was earlier a sympathiser of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI).

He said that three of his sons were also falsely implicated and imprisoned.

His son, Raziuddin Nasir, who was arrested by the sleuths police last year, after he underwent training in Pakistan Administered Kashmir, is presently in Bangalore jail.

The Moulana was an accused in a conspiracy to trigger bomb blasts across Hyderabad during the Ganesh immersion procession way back in 1998. The police had then arrested a Pakistani national and alleged ISI agent, Saleem Junaid, who had sneaked into the country for the purpose. About 20 kg RDX was seized from him.

“The Moulana provided logistical support to Junaid. He provided fake documents for Junaid, facilitated shelter and also got Junaid married to a local girl,’’ police sources said. However, the Moulana was acquitted in that case.

The 59-year-old Moulana has also been named as an accused in the violence that erupted before the DGPs office in 2004. Scores of Muslim youth tried to `free’ Moulana from the custody of Gujarat police when they opened fire which resulted in the killing of a youth, Mujahid Saleem.

The police had also named the Moulana as an accused in the Ganesh temple blast conspiracy case.

Earlier, the police had also picked up Moulana’s second son Jaber, a third-year engineering student on charges of conspiracy.

Cases were also registered against the womenfolk in his family after they gate-crashed into Saidabad police station, attacked policemen and ransacked the premises following the arrest of one person.

Though speculations were rife that the Moulana would be arrested the moment he would arrive in the city, police dismissed the same. Sources said that a tight vigil is being kept over his house and in the locality. The Moulana, known for his highvoltage speeches, also runs a madarasa in the old city.
