Bhubaneswar: Heat wave conditions persisted in many places of Odisha today with Bhawanipatna recording the highest temperature of 42.7 degrees Celsius in the state.
The mercury hovered above 40 degrees Celsius in at least 11 places, mostly in western Odisha, while the coastal areas experienced cloudy conditions, according to the Meteorological centre.
The state capital, Bhubaneswar, as well as neighbouring Cuttack city recorded 36.8 degrees Celsius, the MeT office said.
Titlagarh recorded a maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius followed by 42 degrees Celsius in Balangir, Jharsuguda and Malkangiri. Hirakud registered 41.6 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature in Sambalpur was recorded at 41.2 degrees Celsius, it said.
The mercury rose to 41 degrees Celsius in Talcher, while it was 40.7 degrees Celsius in Angul and 40 degrees Celsius in both Sundargarh and Phulbani, it said.
