Mercedes relaunches premium car Maybach

New Delhi, February 1:Mercedes Benz India, the German luxury car manufacturer’s Indian subsidiary Tuesday relaunched its super-luxury sedan Maybach’s two variants — the 57 S and 62 — with a price tag of Rs.4.85 crore and Rs.5.10 crore .

“This car is only for luxury segment. Designed with meticulous attention to detail and knitted out of 21st century automotive technology, the cars are writing the next chapter in history,” Peter Honegg, managing director and chief executive of Mercedes Benz India, told reporters.

Honegg, who recently joined the India division of the German car manufacturer, declined to share any sales target for the sedan. But he said that the company sells 20-30 units in China each year.

The company said that it will take six to nine months for delivery of the car. Maybach was earlier launched in 2004 with a price tag of about Rs.5 crore till 2009.

According to Honegg, the Indian luxury car segment would be in the global premium league in the foreseeable future of the next 15-20 years.

Currently, the super-luxury car segment includes brands like Rolls Royce, Bentley, Porsche and the recently-launched Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport with a price tag of Rs.16 crore.
