New Delhi: German car-maker Mercedes on Monday moved the Supreme Court seeking lifting on diesel ban, saying it is ready to pay one percent environment cess on sale of diesel cars.
The apex court hear the matter on Friday.
The move from the German car maker is seen as an attempt to get the ban on registration of cars with engines bigger than 2000cc lifted.
Earlier, Mercedes had said that it would launch petrol versions of all its models sold in India by September this year.
The ban on registration of over 2,000cc diesel cars in Delhi/NCR was imposed by the National Green Tribunal ( NGT) in an attempt to curb pollution. (ANI)
