Men who shot constables identified

Two criminals who were involved in the killing of two policemen in Jhunjhunu district in Rajasthan have been identified, police said today.

Ajay Singh and Amit Kumar hail from Haryana and different teams of Rajasthan police are camping in that state to nab them, IG Saurabh Srivastava said.

Head Constable Omprakash and Constable Bajrang Lal were shot dead last night by one of the accused while the police
party was taking the duo to Malsisar police station in a jeep.

The accused, who were in a car, were held by the police following suspicious activities. They were being taken to the police station for questioning in the police jeep while their car was being driven by another policeman.

After killing the policemen, the criminals managed to escape from custody, Srivastava said.

When the car that belonged to the accused was checked, the body of Haryana-based bar owner Pawan Kumar was recovered, police said.

One of the accused, Amit Kumar, was the driver of Pawan Kumar and he along with his friend, Ajay, allegedly murdered him following a dispute.

They wanted to dump the body so headed to Jhunjhunu in Malsisar and consumed liquor. They were roaming in the town since yesterday, raising the suspicions of locals who informed the police.
