Uttar Pradesh: A bunch of men thrashed a woman brutally in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur in broad daylight, bringing to attention the sorry state of affairs in the city. When another woman came to help her, they beat her up too.
The entire dreadful episode has been caught in a CCTV footage, dated 12 November 2017. A police case has been registered on the basis of the same and investigation is underway.
No one has been arrested yet.
In the video, a man can be seen throwing stones at a building. Although what he is saying is not audible, he appears to be calling someone downstairs. Then a woman comes out of the building and they get into a verbal spat, during which she pushes his hand away in what seems like a bid to stop him.
Enraged the man starts thrashing her up. He is joined by another man, who initially seems to be trying to calm the situation, but soon starts attacking the woman as well. The two of them assault the woman together. Her family rushes out to rescue her, and a woman who tries to save the girl gets brutally beaten as well.
The fact that the attackers are undeterred by the presence of multiple people reflects a sense of lawlessness deeply entrenched in their psyche.
