Government has terminated the membership of Nizamuddin and Shaikh Subhani who were working in State waqf Board as MP and MLA. Principal Secretary Minority Welfare Nilam Suhani issued GO RT 227 in this connection.
In view of the recent amendments in Waqf Act 1995 membership of both has been terminated. On the occasion of formation of Waqf Board on 16 December 2008, Mr. Nizamuddin was appointed as the board member under MP category while Mr. Shaikh Subhani was appointed under MLA category. As per the recent amendments in the Waqf Act MPs and MLAs will part with the membership of Waqf Board with the completion of their term as MP and MLA.
Chief executive officer Waqf Board called attention towards the matter by sending a letter to the government on October 26. Acting upon the amendments made in Waqf Act the government cancelled the membership of former MP Nizamuddin and former MLA Shaikh Subhani. The orders will be implemented with immediate effect.
