Hyderabad, March 19: Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy, deputy mayor Jaffer Hussain and other standing committe members of GHMC on Friday directed senior officials to remove all unauthorised hoardings that have come up in the last two months.
Certain advertisement agencies had submitted applications for permissions from the GHMC. But they did not obtain valid permissions and erected some 80 to 100 hoardings in different parts of the city.
The special review meeting was attended by the mayor, deputy mayor, floor leaders Kaleru Venkatesh (Congress), Mirza Mustafa Baig (MIM), Singireedy Srinivas Reddy (TDP), Bandari Prakash (BJP), all committee members, GHMC commissioner Sameer Sharma and other senior officials.
Members also directed officials to remove hoardings whose licences have expired, numbering about around 500.
They asked officials not to give any new hoarding permissions. They directed town planning officials to also keep a check unauthorised constructions going on in the twin cities and not allow further constructions. With regard to illegal activities by anti-social elements in community halls, members asked the commissioner to ensure all halls are free of the menace. Members also asked for allocation of `100 crore for water and sewerage works in surrounding municipalities.
GHMC commissioner Sameer Sharma explained that majority of resolutions passed by the committee and council are in implementation stage. Those like removing mortgage clause for houses constructed in plots of 100-300 sq yards, not collecting 200 percent property tax on illegal buildings will be followed up immediately by appointing a liaison officer to interact with the state government.
