Members of TDP, CPI, CPI(M), TRS suspended from House

Hyderabad, August 06:The members of the Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP), CPI, CPI(M) and Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) were suspended from the Andhra Pradesh Assembly for the day, for stalling the proceedings during Question Hour.

These opposition members demanded the appointment of a House Committee to probe illegal mining in Obulapuram mines in Anantapur district.

The trouble began when the state government categorically refused to appoint a House Committee as the matter was pending in the Supreme Court and the High Court.

Appealing to the members to maintain restraint, Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy asked them to cooperate with the Chair as the first question discussed for three hours was on Obulapuram Mines.

There was no point in Opposition demanding a House Committee when the state government had categorically rejected it.

When the Speaker asked the Finance Minister K Rosaiah to give reply to the discussion budget, the Opposition parties stood on their feet and raised their voice, demanding a House Committee.

When the opposition parties did not adhere to the Speaker’s final appeal to maintain restraint, the Speaker directed the Finance Minister to move the motion.

Immediately, the Finance Minister moved the motion and named the members and urged the Chair to suspend the members.

The Speaker suspended the Opposition members and asked them to leave the House.
