Melbourne, March 13: A Man, 32, has been killed in Argentina while raising money for prostate cancer on a motorcycle trip around the world with a mate.
Simon Buckley, a tour guide, is believed to have died when a back tyre blow-out caused him to be thrown off his bike on Wednesday.
His co-rider and close friend, NSW man Todd Barry, 28, said he was devastated by the news and still in shock.
“We’d known each other for seven years and worked together in Europe and Australia with the same tour company,” he told AAP from New Zealand, after having gone there last month to organise more fundraising.
“Travelling was a pretty big part of both our lives and we decided it was time for our own adventure … while doing something worthwhile.”
The pair left Australia 12 months ago and the trip was due to finish back in the country next month.
Mr Buckley’s family was dealing with the Australian consulate in Argentina and other authorities to organise repatriation of his body, Mr Barry said.
