Washington: The First Lady of the United States, Melania Trump, on Monday termed her husband and President Donald Trump’s first wife Ivana Trump’s first lady remarks as “attention-seeking and self-serving noise”.
Ivana, who was married to the president from 1977 to 1992, had joked during a television show that she was the “first lady.”
“I have the direct number to the White House, but I don’t really want to call him there because Melania is there. I don’t want to cause any kind of jealousy or something like that because I’m basically Trump’s first wife,” The Independent quoted Ivana, as saying to ABC news.
She had appeared on a morning television show on ABC News to promote her new book, Raising Trump, about the three eldest children of the American President.
Melania Trump’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham responded to Ivana’s remarks, saying that the former was “honoured by her role as the First Lady of the United States”.
“Mrs. Trump has made the White House a home for Barron and the President. She loves living in Washington, D.C. and is honoured by her role as the First Lady of the United States. She plans to use her title and role to help children, not sell books,” Grisham was quoted, as saying, in a statement.
“There is clearly no substance to this statement from an ex. This is unfortunately only attention-seeking and self-serving noise,” she added.
In the new book, Ivana, who is the mother of Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric, has described her marriage to the Donald Trump. (ANI)
