Meira Kumar to participate in ‘Chalo Sircilla’ agitation

Former Speaker of Lok Sabha Meira Kumar will attend the “Chalo Sircilla” agitation being organised by the Congress party on July 31 in protest against the alleged police brutality on Dalits and BCs.

Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said that Meira Kumar has been invited to address the ‘Chalo Sircilla’ rally to expose the atrocities on Dalits, BCs, STs and other sections. He strongly condemned the TRS Government for the alleged torture on poor residents of Nerella village who protested against the death of a local tribal in road accident caused due to illegal movement of trucks belonging to sand mafia. He said instead of answering the issues raised by the opposition parties, IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao targetted the Congress leaders with baseless allegations. He asked as to why KTR was silent on illegal detention and torture of Dalits, BCs and others by the Sircilla police.

Uttam Kumar Reddy appealed to the SCs, BCs, STs and other community members to participate in large numbers in ‘Chalo Sircilla’ agitation.

The TPCC Chief also accused TRS Government of implicating Congress leaders in fake cases. He said Warangal DCC chief Rajender Reddy was falsely implicated in the murder case of TRS Corporator Murali. He said that the TRS was resorting to immoral politics and all its leaders have turned too arrogant. (INN)
