Mehbooba’s PDP receives big jolt as ex-finance minister Haseeb Drabu quits

Srinagar: Former finance minister of Jammu and Kashmir Dr Haseeb Drabu has resigned from primary membership of Mehbooba Mufti’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He handed over his resignation to party president Mehbooba Mufti. In a tweet, he wrote “Bidding Adieu to PDP. Another phase of life over.”

PDP which is already facing a revolt has received a big jolt after the resignation of Dr Drabu.

It must be recalled that Drabu was sacked for his remark on Jammu and Kashmir issue in March this year when Jammu and Kashmir was ruled by the PDP-BJP alliance. During an event in the national capital, he had said that the situation in the state should not be seen as a political problem.

He had faced a lot of heat from opposition National Conference and separatist parties for his remark.
