Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday requested the intervention of Union home minister Rajnath Singh in the matter of photojournalist Kamran Yousuf, who has been taken in NIA custody.
“Spoke to Home Minister @rajnathsingh ji to look into Kamran Yousuf’s case. I’ve requested him to intervene so that the life of a young budding journalist does not get ruined,” Mehbooba posted on Twitter.

The freelance photojournalist, was arrested on September 5 in 2017 by the investigation agency for his alleged involvement in “stone-pelting incidents”.
The NIA alleged that Yousuf had connections in terror funding. The editors guild and other journalists have also sought his release and said that his arrest was a violation of freedom of press.
