Nabi Saleh: Janna Jihad is only nine years old and will turned 10 this month but count herself to be the youngest journalist in Palestine.
Janna, whose real name is Janna Tamimi is a residents of Nabi Saleh reports on protests against Israeli occupation as there were no many media persons to documented the violence.
“Not a lot of journalists are sending our message from Palestine to the world, so I thought, ‘why not send my message … and show them what is happening in my village’,” Janna told Al Jazeera.
Armed with an iPhone , a Wi-Fi connection and her favourite social media channels — Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat and YouTube, Jihad is every bit the modern journalist.
The young reporter describe her camera as her weapon with the help bof which she captures footage on a daily basis.
“My camera is my gun,” Janna explains. “The camera is stronger than the gun … I can send my message to small people, and they can send it to others.”
Little Janna Jihad will keep reporting and would like to work for Fox News or CNN because “they do not talk about Palestine, and I want to make reports on Palestine”.
