New Delhi: After Alwar gang rape, Meerut horror has shocked everyone where a widow was first sold by her own father and aunt for a mere Rs 10,000 to a man who subjected her to rape and sexual exploitation at the hands of his creditors.
The traumatized victim is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital for her 80 percent burn injuries after she immolated herself to avoid further sexual exploitation.
The victim is heavily bandaged and now believes no one would dare rape her anymore due to her burned condition.
Speaking of the torture that has forced her to take this extreme step she wants no other girl to experience what she had to.
Married at a very young age when she was only 14 in 2009, she was abandoned by her much older husband and that she says was only the beginning of her painful life.
She was sold for a mere Rs 10,000 by her own father so that he could but things for himself and his wife.
“My second husband was evil. He got me raped repeatedly by his friends and because people got to know about me being raped and harassed, they thought I was vulnerable and ‘available’. Over 20 men have raped me and threatened to throw acid on me,” the victim says.
She tried to seek justice but was only threatened she recalls.
“The justice, either from my father or police, always eluded me. I lodged different complaints but was always told the probe is on. No FIR was registered from October 2018 to April 2019. I became hopeless and so decided to take my life,” the victim says.
The rape victim has three children- one from her first husband, one from her second husband and the third one from one of the men who raped her.
Her pain had no boundaries when the second husband threatened her with her three children to force her to return to him.
The Hapur Police has finally lodged a FIR against 14 people under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Hapur Superintendent of Police Yashveer Singh said that a probe has already begun.
Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognisance of the matter and issued a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government and state’s DGP seeking a report in the matter.
