Meerut: branding him cow smuggler, police kill Irshad in an alleged encounter

Meerut: Police on Tuesday, encountered 28-year-old, Irshad in Sardhana area claiming that he was a cow smuggler. His family members have rejected the claim and raised questions over it. During an alleged exchange of fire with the police on Tuesday morning, a bullet pierced through Irshad’s head. A resident of Nangla village under Ratanpuri police station in Muzaffarnagar district, Irshad belonged to a family of farmers.

Irshad’s cousin Mohammad Furqan told that Irshad had gone to irrigate his agricultural land in the Sardhana area of Meerut district on Monday night. They were shocked to know about his death only when they saw the photograph of his dead body on WhatsApp. Later the family came to know that Irshad had been killed in an encounter with the police. Furqan further claimed that Irshad was innocent, he was never booked in any case and had never been in animal trade.

Admitting that no case was found against Irshad, SP (Rural) Rajesh Kumar, however, said Irshad had been with his aides in the vehicle from which the police had been fired upon.
