Hyderabad, February 09: Justice T Meena Kumari is all set to make a record of sorts when she becomes the first woman acting chief justice of the AP High Court, the day Anil Ramesh Dave becomes the chief justice of the Bombay High Court.
With Justice Meena Kumari becoming the CJ of the High Court, Andhra Pradesh state can boast of having women as Governors (Sharada Mukherjee and Kumud Ben Joshi) Legislative Assembly Speaker (Pratibha Bharati), CLP leader (J Geeta Reddy) and Home Minister (Sabita).
Justice Meena Kumari hails from a family of legal luminaries and Carnatic musicians of yore. She is the granddaughter of the legendary Carnatic violist Dwaram Venkataswami Naidu. Her husband P Bhimsen is a leading legal counsel and her brother-in-law is former Union minister, governor and senior counsel P Shiv Shanker.
The incumbent chief justice of AP High Court is Chief Justice of Jammu & Kashmir Kukru. This is the second time that AP High Court is having a justice from the J&K High Court.
The earlier one being Justice Bilal Nazki.
