Medicine stream lures Telangana students, Engineering no more appealing

Interest in medical courses has risen among students compared to engineering in Telangana state. Hence the number of applications submitted for medicine stream is significantly higher than the number of engineering aspirants who applied for Telangana State Engineering Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test TS-EAMCET.

Hitherto the number of engineering aspirants used to be higher; keeping this in view more seats were sanctioned for engineering colleges. Compared to engineering, number of students aspiring to take admission in medical and agriculture course was always less.

But this time 20433 applications were received for medicine as against 16500 applications for engineering stream. Of the 20433 applicants of medicine 13433 are girls. Of the total 37339 applications received by EAMCET authorities online, 19921 are girls. Convenor EAMCET 2016 N V Ramna Rao told that this is an interesting trend witnessed for the first time.
