Hyderabad: In an incident of alleged medical negligence, doctors at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) reportedly left forceps in woman’s abdomen during surgery. On 2nd December 2018, she had undergone surgery for hernia at the hospital.
According to the report published in Telangana Today, on Friday, the woman, Maheshwari Chowdhary (33), a resident of Mangalhat was admitted to the hospital again after she complaint severe abdominal pain. After conducting x-ray, doctors came to know that forceps is the reason for the pain.
Soon after finding the reason for pain, the hospital authorities decided to admit her and conduct emergency surgery to remove the forceps.
Meanwhile, Dr. K. Manohar, Director of NIMS said that a three-member committee has been set up to conduct an inquiry. Action will be taken based on the report, he added.
As per the details furnished by the relatives of the woman, the patient had started complaining of abdominal pain after the surgery.
