Hyderabad: A delegation of Medical Council of India consisting of three members visited Govt. Hospital and Medical College at Mahboob Nagar. It consisted of Dr. Nehant, Dr. Lakshmi and Dr. Srinivas Nair. They inspected all the departments of the hospital and medical college. They reviewed the requirements for the classroom, laboratory and medical facilities for the patients. They also inspected case sheet and outpatient sheets.
Superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Ram Babu, Dr. Minakshi and Dr. Shankar told the delegation that as per MCI rules, the hospital should consist of 300 beds but there are 326 beds in the hospital. The delegation talked to the patients directly and enquired about the medical treatment and other facilities.
It may be noted that approval for the Govt. Medical College would be accorded only on the basis of the report of the delegation of MCI. The members of the delegation advised Dr. Ramani, Director of Medical Education and Dr. Ashok Reddy, Principal of Medical College and the hospital staff to enhance basic amenities in the hospital.
Doctors were surprised at this unexpected inspection of the delegation of Medical Council of India. However, they made an attempt to satisfy the delegation.
