Hyderabad, August 29: Describing the Centre bowing down to Anna Hazare’s demands as people’s victory against corruption,’ Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday reiterated that his party would extend its total support to those individuals and parties which are fighting to eradicate corruption.
Talking to media persons at his residence, Naidu blamed the Centre’s inefficiency for rising corruption in the country and said that the government should introduce reforms in the election and political arena to prevent corruption at higher echelons.
Naidu said the Election Commission should debar the individuals who were indulged in corruption from contesting elections. He slammed the BJP for extending support to YSR Congress party president Jaganmohan Reddy, against whom the CBI has initiated the probe for allegedly amassing illegal wealth.
“The BJP has lost people’s confidence for its support to persons involved in corruption,” he said. Asking the media to act responsibly and in a transparent manner, Naidu said that there was no need for him to respond to write ups accusing him of being involved in corrupt practices, by a section of media. Recalling that media gave positive publicity to YSR’s padyatra, whereas, his Meekosam Yatra was completely ignored by the media.
Naidu also denied reports appeared in a section of media that he has properties in Nellore. But he said his distant relatives own some properties in Nellore district.
Responding to Speaker Nadendla Manohar imposing restrictions at Assembly media point, Naidu condemned his decision and said no one can gag freedom of expression in the country. He also condemned Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy’s indifferent attitude in redressing farmers’ woes, who declared crop holiday in some parts of state.
Naidu reiterated that his party would introduce no confidence motion against Kiran Kumar Reddy government on people’s problems in the next assembly session.
