Media managements not above law: Minister

Information and Public Relations Minister DK Aruna has said that the media house owners were not above the law, and they are also equal in front of the constitution, and they will be punished if they committed mistakes.

Addressing a gathering after releasing the Hyderabad Union of Journalists (HUJ) diary of year of 2013, and inaugurating the three districts- Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahabubnagar, regional conference, here on Thursday, she said that she will try to release the Chief Minister Relief Fund to the journalists who have taken treatment without using Medi-Claim due to delay in renewing the Medi-Claim policy.

She also said that she will appoint the various committees related to Journalist issues very soon, and also assured that she will talk to the Finance Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy in regard to issuing G.O. on Journalists Welfare Fund.

Former IJU secretary general and Visalaandhra editor K Sreenivas Reddy has said that every one including politicians, officials common man were going to jail when they committed a mistake, but the media house managements were not going to jail and escaping from their mistakes using loopholes in the law. He urged the Minister to implement the laws against the media house managements when they committed mistakes.

IJU secretary general D Amar said that journalists were facing job insecurity and hence they were not presenting the facts. more so they were forced to act to the tunes of media managements.

Namaste Telangana editor Allam Narayana has said that the editor’s role in the media was reduced to very low level and he stressed the need of organizing journalists movements to protect their rights.

APUWJ representatives K Sathyanarayana, Y Narender Reddy, T Koti Reddy, Virahat Ali, Yadagiri, Srikanth Reddy, Mahipal Reddy and journalists from Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Mahabubagar districts participated in the conference.
