“Mission of Islam is to work for humanity. Instill values, create confidence and strength among the Muslim community to succeed in all walks of life”, said Moulana Salman Nadvi while delivering a lecture on “Responsibility of Muslims in present scenario” at Feroze Terrace, Shivajinagar here on June 12.
He appealed to the Muslims, not to beg for their rights but make use of the opportunities available. “It is the duty of every Muslim to work for welfare of humanity. It is the need of the hour to look at the positive things the new government has in store for the people of our country. It is not necessary to harbor any psychological fear about the present government. The government has come to stay in power for a long time and is making efforts to show that it is a secular government. However, we need to keep a watch on their work and praise their good work”, he advised.
Moulana also threw light on the reality of existence fascism in India. These forces are present in offices, courts and the parliament, trying to make things easy for people. In such a situation, we have to join hands with all groups and countrymen to fight against evils like corruption to change the scenario.
He called upon the Muslims to develop confidence in themselves, follow the teachings of the Quran and Prophet Mohammed (SAW) and embark on a mission of peace within and also with the neighbouring countries.
Moulana expressed that, “today we are divided into many groups and those who are a part of one group, think that they are superior to other groups. This thinking leads to differences in the community. There is no place for different groups in Islam. Islam does not teach groupism or division. Therefore, only when we work unitedly, will we be successful in our work.”
Replying to one of the questions from the audience, Moulana had to say that, news on issues like common civil code, article 370 related to Kashmir and construction of Ram mandir in the media are adversely acting on the emotions of the people. Media has an important role to play in creating fear or otherwise, in the minds of the people. Media gives a different tint to issues, sometimes not factual and people are forced to believe the version given by the media.
He advised the Muslims to build a rapport with the media and keep themselves updated on the actualities and establish a ‘think tank’ to analyze the situation.
