Expressing pleasure at media for extensive coverage of the lakes revival scheme across the districts, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today reiterated that Mission Kakatiya is aimed to refill the lakes and water bodies to ensure significant increase in producing food grains and strengthen agriculture and farm activities in rural areas. Irrigation projects will be completed on time to see that the lakes irrigate crops on time to reap in golden harvest, he asserted. Giving away media awards for the coverage of Mission Kakatiya program at Jala Saudha here, the minister attributed the development of the state relies on development of the lakes and water bodies. Media awards will be continued for five years and suggested to give priority to development news and encourage the government focus on welfare and growth.
The Mission Kakatiya program got pat from various states and Centre he claimed. The villages and towns will soon get back past glory with lakes and minor irrigation tanks will get full of waters to reap in benefits through better cultivation for improved harvest. Our growth and progress begins from villages wherein the farming community strives hard for crops with huge investments he said adding that the government will provide timely succor to the farmers. Despite their efforts the crops are not proving handy duty prevailing drought situation he said attributing the failure of crops and related problems to the negligence and inefficiency of the previous governments. Lakes restoration with catch pits and rain water harvesting will help increase ground water level he said.
