Mechanism needed to ensure implementation of 15 point programme

Conference of State Minorities Commissions was held on Monday in New Delhi to assess the impact of Prime Minister’s 15 Points Programme which aims at ensuring the wellbeing, protection and development of minorities.

Prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh delivered inaugural address while Minority affairs minister Rahman Khan and high officials of the centre attended the meeting.

Participating in the meeting Chairman Andhra Pradesh Minority Commission Abid Rasool Khan lamented that minority welfare schemes have not been reaching to the intended beneficiaries. He also gave proposals for effective implementation on 15 point programme.

Chairmen of minority commissions of 17 states besides delegates of the states attended the meetings.

The Conference deliberated on the achievements under the programme and also assessed what challenges remain and remedial measures and steps required to ensure better targeting and faster upliftment of minorities.
