In a one-sided encounter, Md Sporting trounced Aizawl FC 6-1 on the inaugural day of the 34th Federation Cup qualifying round 2012-13 tournament that kicked off at the J R D Tata Sports complex here today.
The Kolkata outfit dominated the proceedings after striker Md Mukhtar put the team into the lead in the 12th
minute.
The north-eastern team was well under pressure as Md Sporting players kept raiding their citadel frequently.
Even as the Aizawl defenders struggling to save a move made by the rivals, the ball was deflected from the body of
Laldinpuia resulting in a self-side goal in the 17th minute.
David Sunday scored the third goal (21st minute) while captain Alred K Jaryan followed suit a minute later to lead Md
Sporting 4-0 before lemon break.
Leading 4-0 at half-time, Md Sporting did not look back and continued to mount pressure on the opponent after the
play resumed.
Jaryan scored the brace in the 52nd mintue while Ashim Biswan netted one goal in the 89th minute.
Francis Zonuntluanga scored the reducer for the Aizawl FC in 56th minute.
