McGrath offers tips to Lord’s first-timers

Melbourne, July 15: Legendary pacer Glenn McGrath is trying to pass on his extensive knowledge about the conditions at the Lord’s to the current crop of Australian fast bowlers ahead of the second Ashes Test against England.

McGrath, who has been pretty successful at the ‘Mecca of cricket’ with 26 wickets at a strike rate of 11.50 in three Tests, gave out some valuable tips to Peter Siddle, Mitchell Johnson and Ben Hilfenhaus.

Siddle admitted that he and the other Aussie pacers, all of whom will be playing at the Lord’s for the first time, have been helped immensely by McGrath’s advice.

”He’s had a bit of success here. He was pretty confident with the bowling attack. He gave us a few little ideas. The main focus was the slope and how to get used to that,” Siddle was quoted as saying by the ‘Australian Associated Press’. ”Get used to running in – either you’re getting pulled downhill or you’re running the other way. You’ve got to get used to those things, but there’s not much to it. You’ve still got to go about it the way you bowl,” he added. Siddle also stated that playing at the home of cricket was a dream come true for him.
