Wellington : Legendary tennis player John McEnroe has backed Andy Murray to maintain a completestranglehold over world number one Novak Djokovic in the 2016 season.
Djokovic displayed imperious performance this year, taking his tally of Grand Slam titles to 11 after winning Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.
The Serbian would have secured the first calendar-year grand slam sweep in 46 years if he hadn’t lost the pulsating French Open final to Stan Wawrinka.
Meanwhile, Murray also enjoyed one of his finest-ever seasons by inspiring Great Britain to its first Davis Cup triumph since 1936.
McEnroe, the seven-time major winner, said that it was hard to imagine Djokovic keep up his pace despite him looking unbeatable, Stuff.co.nz reported.
The American legend added that the Davis Cup triumph could motivate Murray to stay sharper in the forthcoming season. (ANI)
