McEnroe believes Murray has `best shot` of winning French Open

Johannesburg : Legendary American tennis player John McEnroe has opined that Andy Murray has his best chance to win the French Open this year.

Murray, who is aiming to advance to his first final in Paris, will meet defending champion Stan Wawrinka in the semifinals at Roland Garros later on Friday.

With Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer not featuring in the clay-court event due to their respective injuries, the two-time Grand Slam champion’s chances of claiming his maiden trophy in Paris seem brighter.

McEnroe, a seven-time major champion, admitted that Murray had improved significantly as a player while playing against the big-three over the years and insisted that the 29-year-old has the potential to add a few more majors in his shelf, Sport24 reported.

Murray leads Wawrinka in their head-to-head record by 8-7.

Meanwhile, world number one Novak Djokovic, who is hoping to complete his career Grand Slam here, will take on Austrian Dominic Thiem in the other semifinal clash. (ANI)
