Mumbai (Maharashtra): Popular fast food chain McDonald’s announced a range of modifications to the menu across stores in South and West India in order to make it more nutritious and wholesome.
The initiatives were announced by Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt Ltd, the master franchisee for McDonald’s restaurants in India, with the launch of ‘The Good Food Story’ to reinforce food.
“Our customers are increasingly adopting healthier lifestyles and trust brands that behave transparently and responsibly, especially when it comes to food options. Our goal has always been to build a better McDonald’s by making little changes that add up to a big difference. All modifications in The Good Food Story have been a result of over three years of persistent re-engineering of our products just so that we could offer more wholesome and balanced food choices to our customers at a great value,” said Vice-Chairman of Westlife Development Limited Amit Jatia.
As part of the new menu, McDonald’s noted that whole grain wraps will replace those made with refined flour, while sodium content in French fries, nuggets, sauces and patties will be slashed, along with the amount of oil used in mayonnaise.
Talking about the patties, the fast food chain said the all-day grilled and steamed menu is being ramped up with patties containing lesser calories and up to 25 percent more dietary fibre, sans added preservatives or food colouring.
It also announced the introduction of 96 percent fat-free SoftServe ice cream and dessert made with 100 percent milk. (ANI)
