Mumbai: Keeping in mind India’s love for Rice, McDonald’s has come up with a rice menu for the Indian market. Known for its mouth-watering burgers and fries, the food company is taking a detour aimed at introducing a ‘glocal taste and modern experience’ with this new addition.
McDonald’s today announced two variants in its lunch menu, Spicy Rice and Cheesy Rice, it is expected that more variants will be added in future.
McDonald’s is well-known for shaping its menu according to the country it operates in, the classic McAloo Tikki burger in India is one such example. Rice is a staple food for people across the country and can serve as a nutritious and filling meal option.
Smita Jatia, Director, Hardcastle Restaurants Pvt. Ltd. said, “Our consumer research showed that consumers want to have more options during lunch and dinner. With the launch of rice, we have not only addressed the need for a wholesome meal but given them a form that they are familiar with.”
The meal will be available in both non-vegetarian and vegetarian options, starting at Rupees 129. The item will be made using basmati rice and veggies like carrots, onions, zucchini, peas and corn tossed in a tomato, beans and cheese gravy. Customers can also add chicken strips, chicken nuggets or chicken to it. (ANI)
