MCD teachers demand Sixth Pay Commission arrears

New Delhi, April 27: Teachers of municipal schools in the capital held a demonstration at the MCD headquarters here today, protesting the non-payment of 60 per cent arrears under the Sixth Pay Commission.

The teachers, under the banner of Nagar Nigam Sikshak Sangh, a representative body of 25,000 MCD teachers, said the civic body is yet to pay the second instalment of the arrears, after 40 per cent was given three years back.

Ashok Kumar Kasana, General Secretary of the Union, claimed that over a thousand teachers assembled at the MCD headquarters at Town Hall to lodge their protest after repeated pleas over the last two years “fell on deaf ears”.

Kasana said following the protest, MCD officials assured them that the civic body will make paying the arrears its first priority.
