MCA student run over by RTC bus

Hyderabad, October 28: An MCA student returning to his room on a motorcycle, was knocked down by a RTC bus at Punjagutta on Wednesday. The bus driver is alleged to have jumped signal.

The deceased, B Rajendra Prasad (23) was an MCA final-year student of the St Martin’s Engineering College at Dhulapally and hailed from Kadapa district. He had been staying in a rented room along with his friend at Sanathnagar. As part of his curriculum, he was attending demo classes at private institutes to know about recent trends in his field.

On Wednesday morning, Rajendra Prasad went to a computer institute at Lakdi-ka-pul to attend a class. After the class, he started for his home on his bike.

“He stopped at the Monappa Island for a red signal. After the signal turned green, Rajendra Prasad drove forward but the driver of an RTC bus, going from Greenlands to Punjagutta came from behind and knocked down his bike,” Punjagutta police sub-inspector U Srinivasulu Reddy said. The bus (47 K) was going from Secunderabad to Kondapur.

Rajendra Prasad sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Police have arrested the bus driver, Babu Rao.
