MBT, MIM workers reach compromise deal in criminal case

MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi, 11 other Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) activists and six Majlis Bachao Tehreek (MBT) workers on Tuesday appeared before the lok adalat, Nampally court, and agreed for a compromise in connection with a criminal case registered at the Bhavani Nagar police station in 2009.

Bhavani Nagar inspector K Srinivasa Rao told TOI that the activists of the two political parties, who were involved in the case, preferred a compromise and approached the lok adalat. During the GHMC election campaign in 2009, the MBT and MIM workers had clashed and cases were registered against the two rival groups, including Akbaruddin Owaisi. Keeping the top brass of MBT allegedly in the dark about the compromise, the six MBT workers approached MIM and held talks with its leaders and went to court and completed the compromise formalities. When contacted, Azampura MBT corporator Amjedullah Khan said he had no knowledge about the issue of compromise and came to know about it from his associates.
