MBCS demand 50% quota in all as per SC verdict

Most Backward Classes (MBC) have demanded that the State government and Opposition parties implement 50% political reservation on the basis of Supreme Court verdict by allotting seats equally among MBC and developed BC sub-castes in the coming local bodies elections like the neighbouring Tamil Nadu government.

Speaking to mediapersons here on Monday, State MBC honorary president U. Sambasiva Rao, demanded that the State government constitute separate Federations for BCs and MBCs as per the recommendations of the Cabinet sub-committee. He also demanded that the government set up separate corporations and grant special reservations by implementing G.O. concerned released in 2008 which would enable the MBCs to develop educationally, socially, economically and politically. He noted that only a few of the sub-castes like Yadav, Goud, Mudiraj were mostly receiving benefits in the government schemes and also gaining positions in political parties.

Newly appointed State women’s wing MBC president M. Prameela, questioned the government and Opposition parties about what kind of initiatives they would take for the uplift of the MBC women as they were deprived of their constitutional rights since Independence. She demanded that the government create seats for MBC women in the coming general elections covering from the local, panchayat and municipal levels.

BC senior leader D. Venkat Rao and MBC leaders M.V. Chakravarthy, K. Malakondaiah, A. Jagdish, Jayadev Hiramath and others attended the press meet. (NSS)
