MBC body demands CBI to free Mopidevi

Most Backwards Castes (MBC) Welfare Association general secretary Suryarao has demanded that former minister for Excise Mopidevi Venkataramana Rao, who was illegally arrested by the CBI be released immediately.

The MBC welfare association organized a round table with BC leaders against the arrest of Mopidevi Venkataramana on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Surya Rao alleged that Venkataramana was forced to sign the GO on VANPIC by late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. He also asked the CBI as to why Dr K V Ramachandra Rao, a confidant and soul of late YSR, was not arrested so far. He alleged that Venkataramana Rao, who belonged to BC community, was made a scapegoat by late chief minister. They have demanded that the CBI release Venkataramana Rao before the by-elections to be held on June 12. (NSS)
