MBA student hanged herself

An MBA student committed suicide by hanging at her residence at Chintalbasti on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mahalakshmi, 22-year-old, a first-year MBA student from Aurora PG College in Ramanthpur. Mahalakshmi was the eldest daughter of Muniswamy, who is employed at a printing press in Chintalbasti.
Muniswamy and his wife took their younger daughter Manasa to a hospital as she was unwell on Saturday morning.

At 2 pm, Mahalakshmi, who was alone at home, packed lunch for her family members and sent it to the hospital. Manasa tried calling her sister at about 4 pm, but Mahalakshmi’s phone was switched off. Muniswamy then requested his neighbours to check whether Mahalakshmi was at home.

According to Saifabad Sub-Inspector (SI) S Chandrasekhar, when Mahalakshmi was not answering the door, the neighbours informed her family members. Muniswamy and his wife then immediately arrive at home, sneaked a quick look through the ventilator and found Mahalakshmi hanging from the ceiling fan with a sari.

There was no suicide note. “The exact reason for the extreme act is yet to be ascertained. We suspect the deceased had some personal problems,” the SI added.

Police shifted the body for post-mortem. A case was registered under section 174 (Suspicious death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC).
