Mayor Bonthu Rammohan, along with his deputy Baba Fasiuddin, inaugurated Rs 5 meals scheme at Borabanda today.
Addressing the media later, the Mayor said the meal scheme was already being implemented at 50 centers in different parts of the twin cities. As per the directions of the State government, the GHMC was planning to increase these centers to 150 in the near future.
The GHMC will be spending around Rs 30 crore for the meals scheme where some 50,000 will be benefited. The GHMC was identifying more places where this scheme can be implemented for the poor.
N Ravi Kiran, Additional Commissioner (H&S), Sudamsh, Deputy Commissioner and representatives from Hare Krishna Foundation participated in the program. (NSS)
