Mayor directs GHMC officials to prioritise road repairing works

GHMC Mayor Bonthu Rammohan on Thursday directed the officials to take up repairs of roads and potholes on priority basis.

The Mayor said that the repair works should be taken up in a phased manner by duly deploying Road Doctor and instant repairing teams on 24×7 basis. He said such works would be taken up on priority in late nights as the repairing works could not be taken in the morning hours due to traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, Municipal Administration Minister K. Tarakarama Rao held a meeting with the heads of various departments in the GHMC Head Office today. During the meeting, the Minister desired that the cleaning of Hussain Sagar be taken up in a phased manner. He urged the HMDA, GHMC, HMWS&SB and Pollution Control Board to coordinate and ensure its completion as per proposed Action Plan.

Briefing the media persons later, the GHMC Mayor said that steps were being taken to control pollution of Hussain Sagar during the ensuing Ganesh festival. He informed that KTR has directed the Housing officials to take up re-survey to identify the slums in the GHMC limits. He further directed the Housing officials that those beneficiaries, who have paid their amount with regard to JNNURM and VAMBEY Housing Scheme, the houses may be allotted to them before Dussehra festival.

Several issues including housing, re-carpeting of roads and other major projects were discussed in the meeting. (INN)
