Lucknow, October 13: With a view to maintain law and order during the festival season, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today directed senior police officials against going on leave.
The Chief Minister, who held a meeting with principal secretary home and the Director General of Police here directed that senior officials of the rank of IGs, DIGs, SSPs, SPs and ASPs against going on leave in the festival season unless under unavoidable circumstances.
According to an official statement, the CM has asked the officials to hold meetings with their subordinates and apprise them with these directives.
Meanwhile, ADG AK Jain told reporters here that district and fire service officials have been made responsible for checking any untoward incident during the festival.
He said that raids are being carried out against hoarding of illicit liquor, criminals and rumour mongers.
