Mumbai, September 28: Melody queen Lata Mangeshkar is celebrating her 80th birthday today. Mangeshkar shot to fame from ‘Mahal’ a movie came in early forties. Even today her melodious voice holds same power and charm which it had 60 years ago.
She was born Mageshkar’s family of Indore on September 28, 1929. Her father was Dinanath Mangeshkar. Her education started at the age of five. But at the age of thirteen, she had to shoulder the responsibility of the family as her father died.
“Naachu Yaa Gade, Khelu Saari Mani Haus Bhaari” was the first song which Lata sang. Thereafter she never looked back. She has been honoured with several awards for her singing. She was given the National Film Award thrice. She was presented Dada Saheb Falke Award in 1989 and Bharat Ratna in 2001.
She got her name registered in the Guinness World Records by singing around 50,000 songs. May this melodious journey continue forever.
