Ranchi: Maulana Azharul Islam and his brother Maulana Imran who were returning their village Naya Sarai on a motorcycle were beaten up by some anti-social elements. The incident occurred at 10 am near Dilawar Chowk where the miscreants riding Scorpio abused the Maulvis in the name of religion and started beating them.
They asked the maulvis to say ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and beat them with hockey sticks and other sticks on refusing to say so. One brother Maulana Imran could anyhow escape, but his brother Maulana Azharul Islam was beaten up harshly leaving him seriously injured. He was shifted to Ranchi hospital in critical condition. His condition is said to be serious.
